We strongly encourage anyone interested in using insurance benefits to cover our services to call your insurance company’s Member Services department to confirm the benefit, discuss covered services, understand co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, etc.

Skills For Life will also collect insurance information and the name of a primary care physician to begin the process of checking eligibility, confirming the OT benefit and obtaining a prior authorization.

The requirement of a ‘prior authorization’ for outpatient therapies, including OT, is becoming more prevalent with insurance companies. Since most payers and plans require prior authorizations, Skills For Life must submit paperwork to the primary care physician and then the insurance company prior to beginning services to demonstrate medical necessity. This process can take anywhere from several days to a month, but having a PA may support timely and consistent payment of claims by insurance, so we appreciate your patience and understanding.

Lastly, it is important to remember that even though an OT benefit was confirmed, confirmation of benefits is not a guarantee of payment for claim by insurance.
